The Brain

     There are 100 billion neurons in the brain, with 1015 synapses. The brain makes up 2% of our overall body mass and uses up 20% or more of our metabolic energy.

Parts of the brain:
* Frontal lobe - deals with executive function
* Parietal lobe - somatosensation
* Occipital lobe - vision
* Temporal lobe - hearing and long-term memory

     Here are some other important parts when it comes to labelling the brain. Note the superior and inferior colliculus as they are shown in more detail in the second diagram.
